Palmerbet Betting Review
Below is a comprehensive and honest Palmerbet betting review, including our user experience for sports and racing markets on the site, the history of Palmerbet, and the pros and cons of using the Palmerbet website.
This Palmerbet betting review will be updated through new versions of the site, new offers and unique features that Palmerbet offer.
Who are Palmerbet?
Palmerbet is a relative new player in the wagering industry, Australian owned, licensed in New South Wales and run from offices at Canterbury Racecourse in NSW.
Palmerbet also operate on-course at all Sydney Metro races, located on the Rails. Palmerbet is named after the Palmer family, who have been players in the Sydney betting scene for over thirty years. Despite their lengthy bookmaking history, they are newcomers to the online wagering industry, having launched the palmerbet.com site in 2013.
The Palmerbet website is designed by the same company that designed the Luxbet website.
Palmerbet Website Layout
Palmerbet has the familiar three-column layout with sports and racing markets list on the LHS menu.
On the LHS menu are Quick Links for all major upcoming sports events, with a ‘Live Bets’ tab to view markets available for Live Betting. Beneath the Quick Links is a Next 5 Races which lists the next 5 events for thoroughbred, greyhound and harness racing, with filters available.
On the LHS menu below the Next 5 Races are the sporting markets. It seems that somewhere along the way Plamerbet dropped subcategory drop-downs on the LS sports menus, which is a little annoying. This means that each click of a main sports market refreshes the page. Once in the new page it’s quite good, but more on that further on.
The center section includes a large carousel showcasing the upcoming promotions. Below that is a unique “Market Leaders” section, which lists out the next 3 biggest markets to get underway. We like it.
Below the Market Leaders section are the Next to Play and Next to Race sections, each listing the next 5 sports and racing events to get underway.
Palmerbet Sports Markets
Clicking on a LHS sports menu from the homepage will take you to the main sports page which will allow you to search for leagues and matches. This page doesn’t require further page refreshes to narrow your markets down to a single game. Which soothes the no sub-category LHS menu issue for us.
From here you will be able to search for different leagues, individual matches and Futures events.
Palmerbet Round Markets
Using AFL as an example, the markets are set out very cleanly, listing the upcoming rounds matches (some online betting sites list multiple upcoming rounds).
Each match of the round shows Fixed Odds, Line, Draw, Big Win Little Win (1-39, 39+ points) and Total Points Over/Under markets.
Betting selections are loaded dynamically into the bet slip, with a page flicker occurring each time a bet is added.
We love this simple layout.
Single match markets –
Heading into the single match markets, we find a fantastic accordion style layout for each game.
Palmerbet offer an impressive number of exotic markets for sports including Player Markets, Total Points, Pick You Own Line and an extensive rang of Margin Markets.
There is no delay when opening each each market selection in the accordion layout, and they certainly display and categorise them a lot simpler than many of the bigger agencies.
We are big fans of Palmerbets single match layout. Hold my beer while I applaud.
To be honest we weren’t expecting a whole lot when we started our Palmerbet review quest, but we are very impressed with the markets and user experience they have to offer for sports up to this point, and would definitely recommend them for sports punters, now onto racing…
Palmerbet Racing Markets
The main Palmerbet racing page lists out the day’s events for thoroughbred, greyhound and harness racing.
Each of the greyhound, thoroughbred and harness are separated into local and international racing.
Tabs at the top of the markets allow the selection of Results, Today’s market and markets for a couple of days ahead.
The racing Results section offers a comprehensive database of racing results, that can easily be sorted through a calendar. These results are available for all forms of racing, both local and international.
Excellent on all fronts.
Single Race Markets
Each single race market lists all runners, with tabs above the field which include Win/Place, Quinella, Exacta, Trifecta, First Four and Quadrella.
The Quadrella section is particularly impressive and easy to use, listing the fields for each of the four quaddie legs on a single page.
Clicking on a runner will bring up the form, which includes all the necessary statistics, including form over distance, track, last 10 runs and more.
Below the main markets is a unique feature called ‘Predictor’. The Palmerbet Predictor shows how their data believes the race sill pan out, with positions placed for each horse. Below the Predictor you’ll be able their selections direct to the bets slip. A bit of a long stretch, but a bit of fun none the less.
Bets are automatically added to the bet slip, it’s not our feature however.
Toggling between the Singles, Multis and Exotics tabs to add your stake is a little difficult.
When Multis is selected, the Singles legs will collapse, showing just the Multis stake field, which makes seeing the legs that your placing into the multi invisible.
This may be a mistake from our end, but if it’s not, it’s likely something that will be fixed in future updates to the Palmberbet site.
It certainly doesn’t harm this review too much.
Unique Site Features
Racing Predictor – Gives a visual guide as to Palmerbet predict each race will pan out for every runner. Maybe not the best idea to follow the bookies, but they do back up their predictions with statistics, so there may be a decent tip or two in there each day.
A bit of fun.
Quick Multis – The Quick Multi section is available via the main menu and allows you to place legs from multiple sports markets from the same Quick Multi page. most of the major agencies have a version of a Multi Builder, and compared to others, this one offers less markets.
Still, very simple to use. Available for sports only.
Bet Book –
Bet Book allows users to share their betting activity Facebook friends. Earn some bragging rights, or lose some credibility with your mates using the Bet Book feature. If you just won big, instantly share it with your Facebook friends.
Unfortunately it’s only available on Facebook, and you’ll need to connect a Facebook account to use the feature.
Palmerbet offer a variety of betting promotions for both sports and racing. Being new on the block they are keen to impress, and it’s a great idea to start your account prior to Spring Carnival, when they are throwing offers in all directions.
